Steps to reproduce:

When you save a page (for example) as a text file, the file type stays this until you change it AND execute another saving. You cannot open the dialogue (ctrl+s), change the type, abort and expect this type when you save a page in future.


Actual results:

Type stays txt.


Expected results:

Type should change as selected even if you abort.

I have tested this issue on Windows 10 x64 with the latest Firefox release (50.1.0) and the latest Nightly (53.0a1-20170110030221) and managed to reproduce it.
When choosing to save a webpage as txt, the file type remains as this until you change it and execute another saving.

Thank you for reporting this bug, but I don't think we can do anything to fix it. This behavior is common to all Windows applications. I've just tested this in Paint, and I confirm that by design the file type is only updated if you confirm the save operation.

I understand that the actual behavior you are looking for is to save a web page as text only once, then revert to the previous save behavior. However, I don't think this use case is common enough to need an option or user interface facility for it.
