The mouse cursor stays as "pointing hand" whenever the mouse is over the
bookmarks sidebar, but not on top of any clicable bookmark. To my understanding
it should change to an arrow when not over a bookmark or bookmark folder.

I'm seeing this in the History sidebar as well.

nsbeta1- per nav triage team, would actually consider this as wfm, invalid or
wontfix, since the hand cursor correctly indicates the click affordance.

ok, but we should use default cursor for twisties at least.
ok, what about changing this bug to "support CSS cursor property for tree pseudo
elements" ?

so we would be able to do this:
outlinerchildren:-moz-outliner-cell-text {
  cursor: pointer;
}

Nominating for buffy.

Morphing bugs is suboptimal since itleads to confusion about the problem
definition amongst other issues. Please file a new bug if you are trying to fix
a different problem.

comment 6 is confusing for me. The hand cursor indicates the click affordance,
but in this particular case it does wrongly indicate so. If you click, nothing
happens, hence a pointer would be more suitable. Am I missing something?
Yes, I think this bug is still valid. The cursor should be changed to pointer
only when hovering over images or text in bookmarks sidebar.
However, bug 158344 has to be fixed first.
