Steps to reproduce:
Hi,
I have Thunderbird installed on my home pc, laptop, and work pc. They all have adaptive junk filtering turned, all options enabled, blah blah. However, my home pc has been trained for a long time, and emails are being filtered just fine, but the laptop and the work pc have been recently reinstalled from scratch, which means there's zero training available on those two devices.
Actual results:
The result is that valid emails end up being classified as junk by the new devices when they shouldn't. A conflict exists between all 3 devices, and probably a race condition, since all 3 devices are on all day, with TB running all day.
Expected results:
I suggest allowing adaptive junk filtering to be stored and used from a cloud service, such as google drive (or whichever the user prefers). This way one could have multiple devices all running TB concurrently, and junk filtering is centralized.
When a new device is installed, junk filtering can be set as a global option applicable to all emails accounts, this way all devices treat junk in the same way, and I don't have to train multiple devices separately. Trust me, that's a real hassle and major waste of time. Not to mention that I am now quite paranoid that [time sensitive] valid email ends up in my junk folder instead of my inbox. This scenario actually happened to day, when 3 online payment receipts ended up in my junk folder when they shouldn't have - the payment processor was known and legitimate and previous trained on my home pc. I saw the 3 receipts much later but by then the damage was done.
Thanks,
Michael.
