The view menubar should have sidebar as a menupopup (instead of menuitem)
showing all the tabs avaiable. Clicking on it open the sidebar to desired
sidebar. This allow us to have the sidebar showing only one tab at a time while
still make things navigatable.

This will make navigating to tabs require more clicks which means it will be
harder for users. Also, a large class of users may not discover the fact that
they can switch to other tabs.
I never said making showing one tab at a time default. By default sidebar should
stay the way as is, but it should be possible to have the tab list on the menu
bar so if they do make it show one tab (by changing sidebar.num_tabs_in_view) at
a time they can choose the tab from menu other than clicking the scroll button.

seems more of a newsgroup discussion than a bug to me. Confirming as a request
for new feature but I suspect that the module owner will mark it "wontfix"
without some data that users will want/need this or other compelling justification.

To corroborate Asa's suggestion, sidebar design discussions and the like can be
carried out on news.public.mozilla.browser.
