Examples of KB article lists available to visitors:

These lists should only contain support articles, which are those in the SUMO "How to" and "Troubleshooting" categories. Articles in other categories such as templates, "How to contribute" articles and "canned responses" should not be included.
In case it helps, articles can be filtered by product and category in the SUMO KB Dashboard Overview, here (templates are not included due to bug 1115815):

Additionally, KB articles that are archived (obsolete) should not be available to visitors, no matter what the category. See bug 1328646 on that.

No, bug 1328646 and bug 1331258 are about archived (obsolete) articles which can be in any category.
This bug is about limiting KB articles that are available to visitors from the product/topic pages to support articles, which are those in the "How to" and "Troubleshooting" categories. This is currently the case on https://support.mozilla.org/ where articles in other categories, such as Administration, How to Contribute and Templates, are hidden from the article lists that normal visitors can find through the product landing pages and are not available via normal search.
If you look at http://migration26.stage.lithium.com/t5/Basic-Browsing/tkb-p/basic-browsing-kb for example, you will see articles like "Angry User Training" which is in the "How to contribute" category according to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/angry-user-training/history and should not be visible to users seeking support.
Component: Lithium Migration → Knowledge Base Content
Product: support.mozilla.org → support.mozilla.org - Lithium
This seems to be fixed on the live site. I saw one contributor-only article that was miscategorized, so I moved it to the social support category. I don't see any more contributor-facing articles. Please re-open this bug if you see any more.
