Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 Build ID: 20161209095719 Steps to reproduce: Running Firefox 50.1.0 on android 7.1 on an unlocked and rooted google pixel. Audio plays properly from other apps. I have attempted to clear all data, force stop and restart firefox, and completely wipe and reinstall firefox to no avail. I am unsure if this bug is related to an obscure setting in about:config, the rooting process of the pixel (certificates perhaps?), or a bug in android 7.1 Go to youtube, or any web media with audio and press play. Actual results: video media plays but no audio is heard. Expected results: Audio should play.
Does the HTML 5 welcome audio on http://www.audiocheck.net/ play? Are all of your different audio categories (music, alert, etc.) turned up in Android settings? (Hypothesis: audio is tagged as the wrong kind of content.)

(In reply to Richard Newman [:rnewman] from comment #1) > Does the HTML 5 welcome audio on http://www.audiocheck.net/ play? No it does not. I checked it in chrome on the same device and it did play.
Summary: No Audio during playback → No Audio during playback on rooted Pixel
Work without issues here on a Google Pixel XL with Android 7.1.1.
