User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0
Build ID: 20161209095719

Steps to reproduce:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0

1. Find any <textarea> on the web that has not had styles applied to it, or create your own HTML file with a <textarea> element. (I am on Ubuntu 16.04, and I have only experienced this issue using Ubuntu.)

2. Click inside the <textarea>.

Actual results:

It will flash the color of the selection highlight. (With Ubuntu's default theme, that is a bright orange color.)

Clicking and holding produces the same issue.

Expected results:

It probably would be better for this not to happen, as the big "flash" can be irritating for the user.

Assuming this is with the Firefox that Ubuntu distributes, can you reproduce this
bug with the official Mozilla build? https://www.mozilla.org/firefox

Yes, it still happens for me with the official build. Even after creating a new profile.

At first I thought it was doing a "select all", but no, it's just cosmetic.

I installed firefox 49 and the textarea wasn't flashing there.
But it is flashing with firefox 50.0b1
Thanks.
