User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0
Build ID: 20161208153507

Steps to reproduce:

"Open file" (CTRL-O) and navigate to a folder which contains files with numeric file names, i.e. the file name starts with [0-9]+.
See screenshot attached.

Actual results:

Those numeric files are not sorted properly while files starting with characters a-z are sorted correctly.

Expected results:

Correct sort order, i.e. 0 < 1 < 2 < 3 ....

This may depend on the widget of your system.
That was a good hint, it seems to be a GTK issue.

It occurs in all GTK windows where files are displayed and I reproduced it on different systems.
Unfortunately, I could not find a solution yet although googling a while.
