I was going to file this about about:newaddon page but after https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1317363#c42 it seems to also apply to the new flow.

This depends on the user but including only icon and name can be confusing. Especially since launching Firefox may not happen immediately after installing third party software which added the addon. It would help if author and description was also visible before deciding to allow new extension.

I see your point but I am not convinced that it is up to us to explain to the user why some third party loaded an extension into Firefox. We can not know why they did that.

Currently the sideloading-flow is leaning towards users not enabling the new extension. This is by intention as to get the third party software to tell you that there will be something coming along, before they sideload. I do not think it is up to us to explain to the user why some software has added an extension, but to that software to prepare the user for it.

Therefore I think we should not show description and author during the flow, unless we can validate those with AMO against a hosted extension to be sure that it is not a harmful or malicious extension.
