Steps to reproduce:

Have 5 bookmarks on my toolbar.

Not sure if the specific webpages matter, but I've got:
-Yahoo Mail
-Yahoo Answers
-Gmail
-Google
-Youtube

Order doesn't seem to matter

Seemingly at random, the leftmost bookmark on the toolbar will disappear upon restart or cold launch of mozilla.  Doesn't always occur immediately.  Sometimes after hitting a few sites, checking email or watching videos on youtube, I just notice the left most is gone.   

If I put it back, I'll disappear again.   If put it back and re-position it elsewhere on the toolbar, whatever is leftmost then will disappear.




Actual results:

Order does not seem to matter, seemingly at random, restarting a few times or just using mozilla a while will lose the leftmost bookmark on the toolbar.

Started noticing it with version 51.0 update.


Expected results:

Whatever bookmarks put in toolbar used to just stay unless I intentionally deleted them.

Sounds like an issue with Syncing?

Do you have sync enabled?

I regularly ran into a bug where Sync would reorder the bookmarks in my toolbar and menu (bug 1324503), but this sounds like the bookmark is gone entirely. If you have Sync enabled, could you answer some more questions, please? Thanks!

* Do you have any folders in your toolbar (it sounds like "no"; you just have the 5 bookmarks). But, if you do, are they reordered so that they show up before any bookmarks?
* Does the order of your other bookmarks in the toolbar stay the same? It's always the leftmost one that's deleted?
* How many other devices do you have connected to your account, and what kind (Desktop, Android, iOS)?
* If you search for the bookmark in the "Show All Bookmarks" view, does it show up, or is it permanently erased? What about on your other devices?

No, I checked and everything under "sync across all devices" is unchecked.  I used it once and found I was accessing different sites on my tablet, so I stopped using sync a while ago.

Thanks for the help.

I don't have sync enabled.  I just checked to make sure.  Everything under the "sync across all devices" is unchecked.  I've used it in the past, but I'm not using the feature now.  Even if I had sync enabled, I'm not sure how it would affect things, since I've had these same 5 bookmarks on there for years and haven't tried adding anything.

No, usually just 5 bookmarks -- I didn't even know you could organize the bookmarks in the bar into folders.  After the delete, the ordering doesn't change, everything just shifts to the left.  I've tried putting other sites and rearranging the ordering, it doesn't matter.

Yes, everything just shifts to the left.  Interestingly, it stays stable at four bookmarks, and it doesn't matter what they are, and the regular bookmarks drop down works just fine.

Desktop - windows10 Pro - 64bit
Android Tablet - Lollipop (5.0.0)

Yes, it's gone.  Under the "Bookmarks toolbar" it only shows the 4 bookmarks that are in the bar.
The regular drop down menu for bookmarks is just fine.  I can add, delete and organize those at will without any weirdness.

I haven't tried to add any more bookmarks to the bar in a while.   Firefox seems ok with 4.  It hasn't disappeared anything in a while.
