Steps to reproduce:

I was notified on opening Firefox that an update was ready to install.


Actual results:

When selecting 'Restart Firefox', Firefox restarts but the same update window appears. This happens repeatedly. This happens for each update.


Expected results:

Firefox should have updated and the update window not be shown. We determined that this is likely to be due to my account not being the one used to install Firefox originally, on my partners account she is able to install the updates however we both have admin rights to the machine.

I don't think that's the issue as the update the dialog is asking to install is actually newer than the current version.

As a first step, could you do the following:

1. Enter about:config in the URL bar and press enter.
2. Set app.update.log to true
3. Restart Firefox.
4. Attempt the update by clicking the button in the update dialog.
5. Once Firefox restarts, open Tools > Web Developer > Browser Console
6. Copy/paste everything into a new comment in this bug.

Is this still reproducible using the latest Firefox? The latest has code to request elevation on Mac which should resolve this issue.
