Hi Giorgos,

We have an in-product link we'd like to redirect:

In-product link: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/desktop-privacy

Redirect to: https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Protect-your-privacy/About-Firefox-Desktop-Attribution/ta-p/1361183.

Thanks,
Joni

Hi Joni,

Since we're now off Kitsune this is something to work on with Lithium.

Joni: what's the current use of the desktop-privacy link/redirect?

The desktop attribution page is just one part of Desktop privacy, but not the home for all desktop privacy.

If the redirect is just so we have a clean URL for the privacy policy, should we just have something like desktop-attribution-privacy instead?

Why

Chris, the redirect is to have a clean URL. We're not able to use custom URLs yet, but would you be able to use this one? https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Protect-your-privacy/About-Firefox-Desktop-Attribution/ta-p/1361183

Just to confirm, you 100% cannot to any redirects with the new SUMO platform right now. Is is the request to just use the URL you added to comment 3 for the time being?
If we can do a redirect, we need to get that in place asap as the privacy policy update is already live:

From:

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/desktop-privacy

to:

https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Protect-your-privacy/About-Firefox-Desktop-Attribution/ta-p/1361183
Followed up with Lithium. Waiting to here back, but their last response was that someone from their migration team could take action on it in the morning. I asked our CS Manager to have an on-call support person take a look at it since the url is on a live page.

This is completed.

Patrick:

Can you please update this redirect?

The redirect should be:

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/desktop-attribution-privacy

to:

https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Protect-your-privacy/About-Firefox-Desktop-Attribution/ta-p/1361183

Adding Scott from Lithium.

Scott, we need to change the desktop privacy redirect again. See chris's Comment 9 above.

The new redirect is now live.

These links appear to be broken again. :( Can you please check on them?

I wanted to mention that Lithium's article link, https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Protect-your-privacy/About-Firefox-Desktop-Attribution/ta-p/1361183 now redirects to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/desktop-privacy

However, I did notice that Chris More referred to https://support.mozilla.org/kb/desktop-attribution-privacy in comment 9. The Firefox Browser Privacy Notice at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/privacy/firefox/ includes the following paragraph, under the Referral and Campaign Tracking section:
(quote) "On desktop, Firefox records and sends Referral Data to Mozilla as part of Firefox Health Report. Learn more here, including how to opt-out or disable this reporting."
.... with the 'here' link going to https://support.mozilla.org/kb/desktop-attribution-privacy (a page not found).

Joni,

Legal would like the article url to be https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/desktop-attribution-privacy to accurately reflect the content of the article. Can you make this change?
Flags: needinfo?(jsavage)
I edited the article description to change the stub from desktop-privacy to desktop-attribution-privacy.
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/desktop-attribution-privacy is now the article url.
(In reply to Alice Wyman from comment #16)
> I edited the article description to change the stub
I meant slug.
just tested this, it's working now, where working ==
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/desktop-attribution-privacy
goes to a SUMO KB article and doesn't 404!

Thanks Alice for your work in comment 16
