User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0 SeaMonkey/2.46 Build ID: 20161213183751 Steps to reproduce: This is something new in v2.46 Mail. When I launch the mail application I'm prompted to login to two e-mail accounts by supplying passwords. If I mistype one I get the error dialog: Error with account Main Sending of password for user [MyEmailAddress] did not succeed. Mail server pop.att.yahoo.com responded: Actual results: If I try to check for new messages for the failed account, I get presented with the same error msg again instead of getting the password dialog like would happen in the previous version of SM, where I could recover easily. Now, I have to shutdown SM and restart and login again. Expected results: I should have been prompted with the mail account password dialog so I could login to the account.

NOT reproducible with official German SeaMonkey 2.46 FINAL (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0 Build 20161213183751 (Default Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit: 0. Preparation for existing POP3 account with PW via PW manager at provider All-Inkl (if necessary): 0.1 ˋIn Server Settings add tailing "X" to user name → [Get Messages] → In appearing Message for PW entry type wrong PW and if necessary uncheck "us PW Managerˊ » Message download will fail 0.2 ˋIn Server Settings remove tailing "X" from user name → [Get Messages] → In appearing Message for PW entry type wrong PW and if necessary uncheck "us PW Managerˊ » Now everything is ready for test 1. Launch SeaMonkey » Starts with browser 2. Click “Email” symbol in status bar » Email Client appears 3. If your client does not check for emails after launch click account from step 0 an click [Get Messages] » PW input message appears 4. type wrong PW → [ok] » As expected message “Sending of password … die not succeed. Mail server … responded: Authentication failed” 5. [ok] » As expected message “Login … failed” appears 6. [Enter new Password] » PW input message appears 7. type wrong PW → [ok] » You can do endless loop starting with step 4: always dialogs will lead you to try new password ☺ Also [Retry] always will lead me to try new password ☺ @reporter, please a) Contribute a problem related step by step instruction containing every key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem due to <https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines> (similar to report in Bug 1139273) b) Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the problem better than a text comment. This is the sequence of what happens, which is definitely different than 2.40. I added a picture of the error msg dlgs. Win7 Pro x64 EN, all EN system 1) start SM via Windows start menu 2) select the Mail icon in the status bar - Mail window displays, then the login dialog displays 3) type a bogus account password, OK - status bar says "<acct> Host contacted, sending login information... 4) wait for timeout - get "Error with account <acct>" dialog: Sending of password for user [e-mail address] did not succeed. Mail server pop.att.yahoo.com responded: 5) OK the dialog 6) Get new msgs cmd - status bar says it is sending login info again 7) press the Esc key - get "Error with account <acct>" dialog again but with a "+": Sending of password for user [e-mail address] did not succeed. Mail server pop.att.yahoo.com responded: + 8) OK the dialog - now I get the "Login Failed" dialog and I have the choice to enter a new password
