Details

When you create a new custom device you then also have to check the box to select this device so it shows up in the short list. I think for most adds people will want that new custom device selected immediately. This removes one step and allows them to add a new device and click done in the popup once the device has been added.
I also filed this same issue as bug 1338599, so it would seem we agree! :)
