I'm pretty sure it's something like bug 1317667 comment 20: we set a date in the past/future but the test doesn't run fast enough and we go past that date. See that nasty time addition: https://dxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/services/sync/tests/unit/test_syncscheduler.js#842-844
