From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 Galeon/1.2.0 (X11; Linux i686; U;) Gecko/20020313
BuildID: 0.9.9
Even though Mozilla shows the target address in the status bar, clicking on one
of the menu items in the javascript menu does not open the link.
Middle-clicking works, as does copying the link address. Left click seems to be
the only thing having problems
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the site
2.Click on a link

worksforme, linux build 2002-04-01-08. Please test a recent build?

Browser, not engine. Reassigning to Browser-General until we can get
further information.

Actually, this site WORKSFORME using Mozilla trunk builds dated
2002-03-29, 2002-03-30 on WinNT, Linux. I'm going to mark this
bug WORKSFORME, because I think it was fixed by backing out the
recent document.body.innerHTML patch. For example, see bug 132922
at this same site.

mrroach@uhg.net: could you try the site again with a current build?
If it works OK now, please mark this bug "Verified". If not, you
can reopen this bug; thanks -
Downloaded 2002040108 and am still seeing same behavior. I highlight, for
example 'residential services' and click on 'Residential Services Home' from the
drop-down menu, and it doesn't work.

mrroach@uhg.net:
1. Are you getting any errors in Tasks > Tools > JavaScript Console?
(be sure to clear it of any previous errors. Also, ignore any
"const hide" errors; they happen all the time and are benign)
2. (Weapon of last resort) what happens if you create a new profile?
[(path to mozilla)] ./mozilla -profilemanager
When the Profile Manager comes up, there's button for "New Profile".
Just wondering what happens if you try this site with this.
Tried creating a new profile, deleting ~/.mozilla and javascript debugger, no
error messages, and it still isn't working... just downloaded 2002040308 and it
isn't working with that one either...

mrroach@uhg.net:
1. What window manager are you using on Linux?
2. (If you get a chance): does this fail on any other box?
3. We've had a couple other bugs like this lately, both on Linux:
bug 132968 Erratic function of dynamic menus
bug 132592 No response on menu click
Both of these are sporadic, and sometimes go away if you restart
your X session on Linux. Could you try that and report back?
Meanwhile, cc'ing Per from the other bugs to see if he has the
same problem on this site -

Hello,
using Sawfish 1.0.1/Gnome. I had it set to focus follows mouse, but changed it
to click focus with no change.
I restarted X, no change. I will try on my home system tonight and see what the
results are. It is also debian unstable (under kde).
thanks

The menus don't work for me at all on this site: left-, right-, or
middle-clicking dismisses the menu without performing the desired action.
I will come back and try the site later, after restarting the X session.

After restarting X, the menus worked fine a few times, but they soon went back
to not working. I have now restarted X once again, and now they appear to be
working normally (for the time being).
Using Mozilla 0.9.9+ 20020401-08 on Linux (KDE 2.99). XFree86 4.2.0.

I have been using build 20020405-00 for a couple of days, and I can report that
the menus have been working perfectly all the time.

Tested with RC1, same results. Also tested with latest nightly 2002050610 same
thing again.

Confirming bug since we've had independent contributors reporting
the same behavior -

I have the same problem in Mozilla 1.0.0.
Interesting observation: Shift-click and Ctrl-click both *work*! What makes
adding a modifier different? In both cases another window is opened (a Save As
box, and a new browser window respectively).

I just wanted to note that this is working fine with recent builds.

Are other contributors experiencing this, too? This is one of the
most mysterious bugs we've ever had -

Compare bug 132592 and bug 132968. Dups of this one?
Comment 23•22 years ago
|
||
I experience the problem in build 20020830. As I explain in bug #132968, the
problem will only show after running the same X session for some days.
Regarding the question which bug is a dup of which, I suggest that this bug, and
bug #132592, be closed in favor of bug #132968, which covers a number of related
problematic sites.

Resolving as a dupe of bug 132968 since the orginal reporter seems to not have
problems anymore.
