Taking a profile of the same page with gecko profiler does show the function names. See also bug 1265526.

Expected run should have function names, like in this attached screenshot.

I'm going to mark this as P2. But I'm also going to cross-reference this with perf.html to make sure we get this right there. I think some assumptions about the data we get back are wrong here. This is a great test case.

Now that we replaced the old performance panel by the Firefox Profiler (see Bug 1668219) we're closing bugs related to this. If you see similar issues on the new profiler, please file another bug, and we'll be happy to have a look. As seen in comment 4 an issue is open in the new profiler already, but I'm not sure what the current status is.
