Contact bugzilla.mozilla.org users who have not logged in in at least four years.

We will inform them they have a window of time to log into bugzilla. If they do not, their account will be deactivated.
>> Do you currently have a way to solve for this?
We have processes for aging out bugzilla accounts with access to security bugs, but not accounts in general.
>> What are the pain points in the current process?
No reliable way to contact large numbers of users.
>> What are the perceived benefits to changing the process?
No surprises to users. 

Eliminating old accounts will improve Bugzilla performance.

400,000 bugzilla user email addresses

If we deactivated accounts without warning, we could risk user goodwill.

We'd like to send this in the next month.

I just invited you to our next LCM (Lifecycle Marketing) intake mtg so we can talk more about this project and next steps.


Looks like these 2 bugs are most related to this request:

Bug 1346011 - Disable all accounts that haven't logged in the last four years

Bug 1349410 - Consider if we send an email for the accounts we're going to disable


If you have any other docs with more background information please attach them to this bug before 11am ET on Monday. That way we can get up to speed as quickly as possible before our in-person meeting on Monday.

One quick question: Did y'all remove these 400k inactive accounts from the random 2k bugzilla user list for the survey email to launch next week? Bug 1340746  If you haven't, it might be good to do that to cut down on bounces, and improve the likelihood of good user participation in the survey.

After talking with security, we're going to soft-disable the accounts -- if they haven't logged in a long time (> 4 years) they'll need to reset their password, and in the meantime they won't receive any bugmail.
