User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 Build ID: 20170223073417 Steps to reproduce: I installed Parrot Security Linux which came with Firefox 51 preinstalled with bookmarks all set up. I launch firefox and log into my sync account (firstname.lastname@example.org). Then. NOTHING! Actual results: NOTHING! Expected results: VERY VERY IMPORTANT BOOKMARKS LOST!!!!!!!?????????
Component: Untriaged → Sync
I'm sorry to hear that Firefox didn't meet your expectations here. Unfortunately the current Firefox Sync service is not designed to be a permanent server-side backup for your data, but rather focuses only on syncing things between multiple Firefox instances. There are some situations where Sync can discard the data that's been uploaded to our servers and rely on connected Firefox instances to re-upload it, and it sounds like you've hit one of these situations. If you have a copy of your bookmarks in Firefox on another machine or another profile, then connecting to Sync on there should re-upload and restore the bookmarks and other profile data. But I'm afraid that's about the only thing I can suggest :-(
Unfortunately, if you don't have the bookmarks on any other devices, they're gone. :-/ I asked some questions in bug 1194435, too; would you mind answering those? Thanks!
Feel free to follow up with more information. Closing for now.
