Steps to reproduce:

after today update 24 march i can no longer install local xpi extension in nighlty v 55 on osx  after clicking xpi all i get is  a blank tab with no pop up like previous version even in add on page i cannot install xpi choosing install from file
the xpi extension i want to install is a web extension downloaded using store foxified add on(lastpass)
please fix it !!

ok  an update to be more precise i was tring to install an update over last pass prevoius web extension installed in same way throught chrome store foxified ,fresh new webextensions will istalls fine

so to reproduce the issue install a local xpi web extension(say last pass in my case from 15 march) then try to install an update for same web extension(last pass 22 march) and you will get a blank page with no popup to install

I am not sure if I understand correctly the issue, but please correct me if I am wrong. In order to reproduce the issue I have used the following steps:

1. Install on latest Nightly build the "Chrome Store Foxified" add-on.
2. Navigate to Chrome Web Store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions) page.
3. Search for the "Last Pass" extension.
4. From "Last Pass" extension click the "Add to Firefox" button.
5. From the displayed pop-up choose the "Save Unsigned Addon to File" option and download the xpi.
6. In Nightly navigate to "about:config" page.
7. Set the "xpinstall.signatures.required" pref to false.
8. Open a new tab and drag the "Last Pass" downloaded xpi in it.
9. Observe the browser behavior.

[Expected results]:
- The install pop-up is displayed, and the add-on can be installed.

[Actual results]:
1. On Nightly (55.0a1 2017-03-23) build, the install pop-up is displayed, and the add-on can be installed.
2. On Nightly (55.0a1 2017-03-24) build, the install pop-up in no longer displayed and the page remains blank.

3. On latest Nightly (55.0a1 2017-03-27), a "This add-on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt" pop-up message appears.

@Alessandro if this is the encountered issue, can you please retest it on the latest Nightly (55.0a1 2017-03-27) build and see if the "corrupt" message is displayed and report back the results?

sorry if i did not respond for long time but i switched to vivaldi browser and i m very happy with it anyway i just tested again today and happen test case 2,page remains blank
