The research team would like their blog, currently at blog.mozilla.org/research, to reside at a dedicated research.mozilla.org subdomain.
Once the subdomain is set up and SSL cert issued we can map it to the blog in WordPress (hosted at WPEngine). We'll need to ensure existing blog URLs redirect to their new equivalents but I think the domain mapping may take care of that automatically.
Since it's not in DNS currently, is it okay if we turn up the new research.m.o CNAME before the SSL certificate is in place? It would provide SSL errors if someone accessed it for a few hours, but with no site there currently..

I defer to your expertise on this. We can certainly get all the ducks in a row before we actually point the domain new to the blog.
Is there an ETA for when this could be completed?

("new domain" not "domain new" ... where's that edit comment button...)
I only asked to give you a chance to test and set up this week while we're pushing for end-of-quarter / end-of-sprint. I would tentatively suggest an ETA of Monday or Tuesday, if that's acceptable to you?

Hey Richard, thank you for getting back to us. That's great news. Ideally we would prefer the change to be ready by Monday, if at all possible. Thanks!

https://research.mozilla.org/ leads to an infinite loop of redirects.

Redirect loop fixed. Was a WP Engine issue :kohei
https://research.mozilla.org/ is now a thing. Clicked around a bit to double check the redirects worked correctly and it appears to be good. Let me know if you run into any issues. Closing bug out for now.
