Details
Right now, only the Classic theme works for me. Even Modern is declared as
incompatible.
But the fundamental problem is that changes to the GUI that affect themes are
NOT reported to the theme owners so that they can update them. And the latest
(working) themes are not promptly put onto xulplanet.
I personally like the LittleMozilla theme. Its author Alfred Kayser responded to
my query as follows:
"a lot has changed, most of it 'not-reported'. However some of it is traceable
through bugzilla. Things like this new button in the mailcomposer window are
'unexpected' changes however, as they are not reported as 'theme' related bugs..."

I agree. Theme changes should be announced (perhaps in some kind of changelog
after each milestone), so that theme authors don't have to find out their themes
don't work the hard way.

we're working on it. Joe Hewitt and Andrew Woolridge are going to be working to
better communicate changes which affect themes. Keep your eyes on the newsgroups
and Bugzilla.
