Mail frozen with old Netscape messaging server (3.5)

Netscape6/6.2.1+ 

1. The mail account is from polyglot.mcom.com, Netscape messaging server 3.5. I
used it as a pop server for Netscape mail program especially for non-ascii mails.
2. When I opened an inbox folder to read mails, the whole netscape program
including browser got frozen.
3. Frozen program can occur before or after you put your password for the account.
4. Unfortunately, it's not always reproducible. I was able to repeat this
problem 5 times in a row and Rui also saw the problem once. But it suddenly
started working again and I can't reproduce it now.
5. But it seems to be a serious problem and even though it's not 100%
reproducible, it did happened quite a lot of times.

Problem is not occurring on IMAP.
Reassign to Esther for POP since Sheela is out....Ccing Sheela.

POP works for me correctly on both Thunderbird and SeaMonkey. Please retest with the latest versions of Thunderbird / SeaMonkey.
