When switching to a tab with permission panel, the panel performs distracting animation and hides immediately
User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:55.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/55.0 I have a problem with Firefox Beta 53. It also happens in Nightly 55. Doesn't happen in Beta 52, ESR 45. Sometimes when switching to a tab with permission panel, the panel shows up with animation, and immediately closes. Here's a ways to reproduce the bug: 1. Open https://permission.site/ in the last tab, click button "Location" on the page 2. Type anything in location bar 3. Open new tab by Ctrl+T, switch to the tab with https://permission.site/ 4. Switch to already opened new tab, then quickly switch to the tab with https://permission.site/ Result: Permission panel performs distracting animation (shows up in a fancy way) and then immediately hides. Expected: No distracting animation. Last step says "quickly", because it's the most reliable way to reproduce. Normally, if I left a tab with permissions by switching to "New tab", then switch to another tab, there's 25% chance that when I go back to the tab with permissions, it'll show me animation of permissions panel (as described above). Probably related bug: Bug 1349453.
I can't reproduce it after step #2, because when I focus on the location bar to type something, the notification panel disappears.
(In reply to Loic from comment #1) > I can't reproduce it after step #2, because when I focus on the location bar > to type something, the notification panel disappears. Yes, it should disappear in step #2. Just continue following the steps.
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:55.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/55.0 I have tested this issue on Windows 10 x64, with the latest Nightly (55.0a1-20170403030207) and managed to reproduce it following the STR described in the description. When quickly switching from the new opened tab to the https://permission.site/, the permission panel performs distracting animation and immediately hides. Performed regression, here is the result: Last good revision: 771f1590f03efec066b2118cad52f11fd17d43ce First bad revision: 785314dbec5772bc3b0f0bc18f6ab63fec750193 Pushlog: https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/mozilla-inbound/pushloghtml?fromchange=771f1590f03efec066b2118cad52f11fd17d43ce&tochange=785314dbec5772bc3b0f0bc18f6ab63fec750193 Looks like the following bug has the changes which introduced the regression: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1328304 Paolo can you please take a look at this?
I've tried on Windows 7 and this doesn't happen to me. I tried to switch using CTRL+TAB to keep the URL bar focused. When clicking on tabs the URL bar loses focus, and in this case we display the notification in the original tab again when going back, which is the expected behavior. Johann, maybe you can take a look and see if the original issue happens to you? It doesn't seem a blocker for 53 though.

I can reproduce this intermittently on OSX. Though I have to be really quick about switching back from the new tab. I think this is a polish issue.
Thanks for reporting though! :)
