135389 - Panel-applet for Linux/GNOME allowing quick-access to all components

Would it be possible to make a GNOME panel applet that looked just like the
current program starter (so that it fits to panel size), however when you
right-click on it, you would have the menu options:

Mail & News
Composer
Address Book

- and so on... Depending on what components you have installed. Maybe you could
even be able to hide components from the menu, even though you have them installed.
Why? Because, it seems a little unnecessary to start "Mozilla", then the Address
Book, if the only thing you want is the address book.

This applet could also have as an option the capability to pre-load mozilla as
does the open office quick starter

You can currently create icons on your gnome panel that will open each component
individually.  Mozilla takes the following command line options:
	-splash		Enable splash screen.
	-chat		Start with an IRC chat client
	-addressbook		Start with the addressbook.
	-news		Start with news.
	-jsconsole		Start with Javascript Console
	-venkman		Start with JavaScript Debugger.
	-edit <url>		Start with editor.
	-chrome <url>		Load the specified chrome.
	-mail		Start with mail.
	-compose <url>		

So to add a button to your gnome panel that opens addressbook you would do the
following:
1) Right click on your panel
2) Choose: Panel --> Add to Panel -> Launcher...
3) Fill in the information:
  Name: Mozilla Address Book
  Command: mozilla -splash -addressbook
  Type: Application
4) Choose an icon.

Perhaps bug 18732 should be related to this bug as what is being requested is a
tray applet which provides the features of the Windows quick launch.  I find it
very tedious having to switch between desktops to find an open Mozilla so I can
launch a new window without Mozilla complaining about profiles.  Also I'd love a
mail notification icon.

MASS-CHANGE:
This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state.
