Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0
Build ID: 20170323105023
Steps to reproduce:
Reset my android phone, installed latest firefox, tried to sync with my old account that I use daily on both my laptop and home computer without any issues.
Actual results:
Getting error message : Email account soft bounced
Expected results:
Should have gotten an email to confirm the use of my account on my android device.
Previous attempts to login/sync on new devices have gone without a hitch, but now it doesnt work anymore.
Have retried every day for the past 3-4 days.
Not a problem on my side since I have gotten the confirmation email (minutes ago) to be able to login here to report this bug.
Reinstalled my home pc a couple of weeks ago, no problem with the sync at that time, got my confirmation email without any issues. But now it doesnt work anymore.
I'm also having this problem, with Firefox for Windows. It worked a couple weeks ago on another computer, for the same account. Something in a recent update probably broke it.
Also there is a thread about this issue here: https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Firefox/Firefox-Sync-Email-account-soft-bounced/td-p/1387500
I should note that I am using a verizon.net email address for my Sync account. I just tested a gmail.com address and it worked. However, others using gmail.com have had the same problem.

We've adjusted some settings on the server to allow more delivery failures before giving up and returning this error; could you please try again and let us know whether this has helped?
For debugging purposes, is the email on your Firefox Account the same as on your bugzilla account?

WORKS !
No more softbouncing. Recieved the confirmation email in under a minute. Great work !
Thanks !
And yes, its the same email I use for my FF account.

Turns out that our "there was a transient delivery failure" error state is not so transient:
https://github.com/mozilla/fxa-auth-server/issues/1812
What I suspect has happened here is that we've encountered some transient delivery failure to your address (e.g. mailbox full, or server temporarily overloaded, or similar) and marked your account as being in the "soft bounce" state. This state is supposed to expire after 5 minutes and let you try to send the email again, but the above bug meant you were stuck in that state indefinitely.
We'll leave the workaround from Comment 4 live for now, and get the above bug fixed up in the next release. Closing the bug here, but please feel free to re-open if anyone is still seeing persistent "soft bounce" failures.
