Details

Mozilla crashed and when I restarted it, *all* my bookmarks where vaporized :(
I've had this two times...
That's bad, but a bug report like this doesn't help much. Which build are you
using? Do you know steps to reproduce this? Is there anything special with your
setup? Thank's for testing mozilla.
Since I'm a software developer myself, I know that this bugreport isn't very
helpfull. But unfortunately, I don't have a clue what lead to the bug or even
what I was doing at that time... I had *many* Mozilla windows and tabs open and
therefore don't even know which site cause the crash...

I was just shocked that for the second time my bookmarks file was trashed... and
thought it would be better to report it. The first time it occured I was trying
to figure out what could have caused it... and kept convincing myself that I
must have done something stupid to have all my bookmarks removed... But now it
happened a second time, and I'm very sure I didn't do anything special other
than using Mozilla intensively.

I'm really sorry I can't provide you with more information, such as sites I was
visiting at the moment, coredumps or anything usefull...

Oh, maybe this can be of any use, first I though Mozilla had trashed all my user
data, but then I noticed that even my history sidebar was still working.
Obviously I don't know if data was missing from the history data, but at least
there was data in their unlike my bookmark file.
I'm using Mozilla 0.9.9 on a Debian GNU/Linux x86 system (AMD K6/2). The Debian
package version number is 0.9.9-3.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:0.9.9) Gecko/20020324

And furthermore it's important to know that I've installed the Shockwave plugin
and CodeWeavers CrossOver plugin.
this has been known to happen now and then and isn't OS or plugin specific
(bug 123650, bug 85955 and more)
Bug 98476 also has several dups of this one.
can't see any reason to keep this as a separate bug.
