Carazza iss a chat system I logged into (you can log in as a guest). Starting their chat system (which is programmed by cassiopeia) locks the browser. nothing else than killing the task helps out of this situation. I'm Using Mozialla 0.9.9 (2002031104). A newer build is not installable (see #135618)

wfm with JRE1.4 and mozilla 0404
ups.. forgot an information: you've to enter the chat, then selecting "java" then entering the chat again. from default the html chat is started (a minor prob: you were not able to enter any data); restarting the chat then starts the java-plugin which results locks up mozialla
perhaps can be the problem..... if you use onLoad to check if the chat is loaded then you get problems..... onload returns before the plugin is ready.. bug_id 106253

Oops, did not try to press "Java" button last time. So, HTML version worked for me but java's is not. However, page simply does not load without _any_ attempts to initialise java plugin. Suspect this is different problem because it is obviously related to other mozilla component. reporter: also try to open java console, set trace level to 5 and reproduce the problem watching java console messages. Is there anything suspicious?
Igor Nekrestyanov: The java plugin is not on the main page. 1. load URl 2. close the popup :-) 3. Login on the right side : Username: Guest and no password and select go (you get a red warning if the username is already in use and you must select another name "guest99") 4. select Chat in the midlle dropdown box and click go 5. select "carraza love chat"
wfm using build 2002040403 on Win2k + JRE 1.4.0.
Matthias - this is the same procedure as i did. However, this bring you html version of chat (that works just fine) without any java (I was watching java console - no activity). As far as i understand you also need step 6: 6. Press "Java" buttom on the bottom of the screen. I guess it is supposed to load and start java applet but it does nothing on my linux. Even html version of chat is not unloaded and therefore i think that problem i saw is not related to java/OJI part. Do you really see running applet on windows? (check with java console that java classes get loaded). BTW, lookup also might be caused by something before any java classes got instantiated.
You are right. and there's step 7 (see also comment #3) click on the "love chat link" in the left menu again after you pressed Java. (the java link changes only the pref for registered users to the java version. But it works also for "guests" if you click again on the Chat link) -> wfm with win2k , build 0404 and JRE1.4

This happens 100% of time for me...there just aren't that many java-enabled sites to test on, but it seems like *every* time Mozilla 1.0 on (Windows 2000 sp2, Windows 2000 sp3, Windows ME) attempts a Java applet it locks the browser.

Re: Jam, I don't think mozilla likes JRE 1.3.1, I had lots of chrashes with it around 1.0, get JRE 1.4 http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html Re: #15 what's your java version? I think this is a dupe of all the other java chrash with JRE 1.3.1 bugs (anyone knows which to dupe to?), it probably also should be release noted that Mozilla prefers JRE 1.4.
I have upgraded to Mozilla 1.1 on Win 2K SP3 and then installed latest JRE (1.4) from Sun. Mozilla now seems happy with Java Applets that I have tried
