User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:45.9) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/3.2 Firefox/45.9 PaleMoon/27.2.1
Build ID: 20170322223557
Steps to reproduce:
Last week I had a Big Crash on PC and router.
Lost one disk with mail and system. Installed a new SDD. Changed router.
Reinstalled afresh W10, and Thunderbird. rel 45.8
(just update now to 52.0 - no changes)
... Recovered a Profile/database 15 days old.
Speakin of Thunderbird:
As previously set:
Setup account ( 2 IMAP gmail, pec and -1 POP3 G.net )
G.net as favorite
... use of "global account" for G.net on Local folder
Actual results:
Previous to crash I had accounts displaying in this order:
PEC
GMAIL
G.net
Local folder
Without any add.on ( and no idea why- and it was fine with me)
I wanted it back in the same order BUT.... I was not able to reproduced it because I got this order:
Local folder
PEC
Gmail
... and NO G.net
( I want Local folder to be the last)
so far using the "get message" button and at the start all accounts were checked.
So to solve the account display order I installed the add-on "manually sort folder"
I didn't notice any strange behavior in Get Message, and account list was ordered correctly.
Two days later I saw that both start-up and button did the job ... BUT ONLY for IMAP account,
while the pop was never checked.
If I did a manual GetMessage on G.net it will work fine. But it was, and it is, the only way to get that pop messages.
Googled Internet and found similar situation as "solved" : the Add-on I installed can stop the automatism..
No Problem ... modified Add-on setting as suggested ... everything returned fine.
Expected results:
Would it have stayed there it would have been fine ..
Now it's the day after:
"get message" stopped working for POP
Add-on "Manually sort Folders" is not any more ordering the account.
( that's another problem - I will write to the programmer)
So I tried to clean the Situation:
Uninstalled add-on ( nothing changed)
"Get message" will check only Imap Account .. POP3 is fine only if asking for it manually

Forgot to tell:
in last 4 days I didn't install any new software or changed any Windows setting.
In my Recovery everything is done before entering last step:
SO Thunderbird is the last software of my "recovery" list ...
... being mail the most important thing I still have on disk in my Computers.

Just crazy... it updated to version 52 .... 15 minutes ago while I was typing the Bug report...
Now (two restart later) and still no add-on,
the Account sort order is back as it was before the crash
( minus the G.net account not showing - but that's ok)

Partial solution found:
Add-on "Get Selected Mails 0.10.2" installed
it create a new button. You have to find it in "customize"
Added the new button to my tool bar near the existing, and still not working for POP, "Get Messages"
Clicking on it I configured two profile: All, Pop. (default set as All)
Now every time I click the NEW button it check mails from Imaps and also the POP.
Not solved the start-up Problem.
TB check only Imap's, not POP, while configured correctly to get ALL account on start-up.

Please note: Bugzilla is NOT a support forum. It is a tracking system for bugs in Mozilla products.
This is a support question. You can get support here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird
We don't have resources to help you (re-)setup your system.
I'm sure you know that for each account you can configure the "Check for new messages at startup", right?
Tools > Account Settings, click on Server Settings.

Sorry, my bad.. didn't realize it was not a support forum !
But I tough it was a bug.
Yes, as I wrote .. setup is complete and working.
Button and start-up action are not.
>>>> BTW: I think it's a bug - being a fresh install of 2 days life with no voluntary system modification or TB change
I will re-post on Support forum with reference to here.
Thanks for your answer.

Just to add a last information:
While Button and Start-up are not working ...
... after x minutes (as per setup) it will check automatically the mail and also get the pop messages.
