Details

Mozilla 0.9.9 build 2002031104 System is Win 98 SE Corel Word Perfect Suite 8.0 is also installed. This program depends upon the file mapi32.dll being in c:\windows\system. When I open Tasks - Mail & Newsgroups in the Mozilla browser, a window is displayed asking if I want Mozilla to be the default mail application. If I answer Yes, the already existing mapi32.dll file in c:\windows\system, some 707 kB in size, is replaced by a file of the same name, 5 kB in size, and then when I try to run the Corel Word Perfect Suite 8.0 address book, it gives me a message saying the address book cannot be opened, and that there is either an incorrect version of mapi32.dll or a set of incorrect registry entries. I have learned to save the old version of mapi32.dll and replace it, which permits me to re-enable the Corel address book. This behavior can be completely avoided if I answer "no" to the Mozilla default mail application dialog box, and mail still works, so I have an effective workaround, but I am sure you don't want your product arbitrarily shutting down other applications by replacing system files. It is worth mentioning that this happened both with the previous build of Mozilla that I was using and the above-captioned one, but it only happens on one computer. Another computer that I have running both programs does not exhibit this behavior.
not a mail database issue - this is mapi issue - the closest component I can see is mail composition...
