> Any application cannot exceed the total monthly data of 2MB. The downloads you are seeing are initial download for Firefox. You will not see those downloads again if you leave the browser open another 24 hours. The first download is for a font, and the second download is for our tracking protection lists.
(In reply to Mike Kaply [:mkaply] from comment #1) > the second download is for our tracking protection lists. If you wanted to defer the tracking protection list download, you could ship Fennec with privacy.trackingprotection.pbmode.enabled = false and then flip that pref to true the first time that a user goes into Private Browsing. We won't download the list if tracking protection is disabled, but we will start downloading it as soon as the feature it enabled. The downside of this approach (and the reason why we didn't do that on desktop) is that it leaks some information about Private Browsing on disk (i.e. the fact that is has or hasn't been used before).
Another source of traffic you may find is Safe Browsing. That's on the order of 1MB / day : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=731525#c4 In order to eliminate that, we need to switch to the Google Play Services API (bug 1303393).
Thank you for yore comments. We'll not defer the tracking protection list now.
Is it possible to have the testing result for the 2nd day? The 2nd day data consumption is likely way smaller than the first 24 hrs. 22.214.171.124(firefox.settings.services.mozilla.com) used 748984 Bytes/24 hours 126.96.36.199(tracking-protection.cdn.mozilla.net) used 413220 Bytes/24 hours
Thank you for your comments. We received test results for 24 hours. If I receive for thd 2nd day, I'll share it.
