This is a bug on all browser platforms except Netscape 6 and higher on all Mac OS We use .asp server site scripts to retreive and store values from within Flash. For a while this raise no problems, but after a while the .asp page seems to stop responding. I'm sorry, the URL is in Dutch, you can check it out, go to 'Maak je reisprofiel' and try to fill in some of the pages. If the 'read' action succeeds the next button will enable, otherwise it's disabled the requested serversite info has arrived.
I have the same problem on win2k with Mozilla and IE5 Are you sure that this is no flash bug ? -> Plug-Ins

The bug is called flash, isn't it ;-) Hm, that's new for me, just tried w2k with ie5 and had no problems, however we are aware that all netscape browsers less then version 6 have the same problem on ms-platforms. My guess is that is has something to do with a bufferoverflow in flash that is automatically corrected by netscape 6 and higher, and ie on ms-platforms. When you look at it with netscape (<6) you can see that the loadaction keeps on running without ending.
Let me understand this: are you saying that this works on Netscape6 & Mozilla? If that is the case, then this is not a bug to be tracked here.
Nop, the strange thing is that is does work under netscape 6 but not under mozilla.
ohhhhh ok

OK, I can confirm this problem on Windows NT 4.0 / build 2002041617 / Flash 6.0 Linux RH 6.2 / build 2002041617 / Flash 5.0 MSIE 5.5 / Flash 6.0 Works For Me. TIP: Use the URL http://www.swingbo.nl/swingbo_home.html - if you have disabled passive window.open() popups like me, this saves some false bug hunting in Flash detect pages ;-)
What is the actual behavior / expected behavior for this bug? I'm having trouble reproducing it.
Unable to determine how to try to reproduce this bug. Bennie, can you still reproduce this problem using a current build? If so, please provide detailed and reliable steps to reproduce. Include what URL to access, and exactly what sequence of actions to take that exhibit the problem.
Summary: When Flash is talking to .asp pages, after a while it receives no more answers → When Flash is talking to ASP pages, after a while it receives no more answers
The bug is still allive in the latest build. (tested it on W2K) Be sure to have Macromedia Flash plugin installed and follow these steps to reproduce: Go to http://www.swingbo.nl/swingbo_home.html Click on 'maak je reisprofiel' Click on 'volgende>' to start the questionaire Fill in a valid day at 'dag', month at 'maand', year at 'jaar' and a number of days (eg. 2) at 'aantal' and click 'volgende>' Then in most screens check some fields and click 'volgende>' I don't manage to get further then the first screen. Another way to reproduce: From the main menu click 'weg = weg', go back to the main menu and click 'weg = weg', repeat this till the request stops responding.
I'm able to switch between the main menu and weg=weg many times. WFM on Windows 98, latest build, Flash 5.
I did install the latest version of the flash player available from the macromedia site, I assume it's version 6, on version 1.0.0+ of mozilla. When I go to the referred url, the status bar keeps 'transferring data from www.swingbo.nl' while the indicator is almost done.
In addition: When I first select 'Nieuws' from the menu, and select one of the newsbuttons, nothing appears (it's a loadmovie of a generator .swt file), then click the 'Nieuws' button again, and select the same or another message, it does show the message, and back to the main menu, 'weg = weg' works for exactly one time, this can be repeated without problems. I guess the first newsmessage 'resets' the connection with the ASP and makes the second selection possible.
Confirmed that using FizzillaCFM/2002041712 (RC1), after clicking "volgende>", no questionnaire is displayed. However, it doesn't work using IE, either. Thus the problem is somewhere between the Flash plug-in and the Reporter's content, and not with Mozilla. Bennie, you need to test your page with other OS X browsers. If you can get it to work with other browsers but not with Mozilla, then let us know. I'll leave this as Unconfirmed for now, but be sure to keep us appraised, Bennie.
I am getting a bit dissappointed. Please read the whole thread top down, on OSX it does work with Netscape 6 and higher. On Windows it does work on IE and Netscape 6 or higher. On both it does not work with mozilla.
Bennie, how about IE on OS X?
IE on OSX gives it a try and stops responding a few tries later, so not working.
Whiteboard: [flash]
not sure if this is our bug or Macromedia's bug. It would seem that the problem (and the reason it works for some and not others) is that some versions of flash work and others don't. Sounds more like a Macromedia problem to me than a Mozilla problem

Could we get a simplified testcase here?

It has all been tested with the same Macromedia players. It is a known bug on several browsers, please do with it what you want, but please take my technical experience seriously. The problem for Mozzilla is that this technology (dynamic flash) will be used more and more often in the future. All sites using dynamic flash won't work in the current release of mozzilla. I think that's enough motivation to finally have a serious look at this problem. At the moment we are very busy. I'll see if I can make some time available to isolate the problem to a test case with sources included.
So I'm inclined to mark this bug INVALID because in comment 17 and comment 14 it is stated that it doesn't work in IE on OSX either and this bug is marked as a Mac-only bug. This could be an issue with the plugin or more likely something with the site content. However, since it DOES work with the Flash ActiveX control in IE in Windows, I'm kinda wondering what's going on. I confirm this DOES WORK with Opera 6 on Windows. Can someone check out 4.x on both Mac and Windows? Finally, a network capture between Gecko and a browser which this works would be VERY helpful in narrowing it down. Thanks!
this works correctly with the new scripting flash, this is a dup of 110441 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 110441 ***
