We would like to consolidate the CA Program related bugs into the NSS Product in Bugzilla, because all of these bugs are related to the NSS root store.

Please change the following existing Product/Component names by moving them (not by creating new ones).

Please change the product/component on all the existing bugs without affecting any of the history.

Current Product: NSS
Current Component Name: CA Certificates
change to
Product: NSS
Component Name: CA Certificate Code

Current Product: mozilla.org
Current Component Name: CA Certificate Mis-Issuance
Change to
Product: NSS
Component Name: CA Certificate Mis-Issuance

Current Product: mozilla.org
Current Component Name: CA Certificates
Change to
Product: NSS
Component Name: CA Certificate Root Program

Thanks,
Kathleen
Dan, Would you please confirm that I have correct stated this request so that all the corresponding bugs will get updated to the new names for the products/components without affecting their history?
Actions that are being requested:

1. rename NSS :: CA Certificates to NSS :: CA Certificates Code

There will be no history item for this visible in the bugs (although it will be in an audit log),
and any saved searches will stop working.

2. move the other two components to be under the NSS product.

This will appear in the history as the product changing.

I think that is OK, as long as it doesn't cause email to be sent out to everyone for every bug updated.

Also, need all of the corresponding closed bugs updated as well.

Bugs themselves are not actually edited, items are put into the history but it's not like a proper bug update
and thus no email.

Excellent! Sounds like exactly what I'm asking for. Thanks!

Tested this on bugzilla-dev as it has probably been a year since a component move like this.
I was able to confirm elasticsearch indexer kept up.

https://bugzilla-dev.allizom.org/buglist.cgi?component=CA%20Certificate%20Root%20Program&product=NSS

Note that the moves appear to come from nobody -- these days we attribute bulk changes to a special automation account.
I'd like to hold off this change until after the push tomorrow (which happens around 6 AM Pacific time)
so that the history entries don't look like "nobody" is doing it. Is that acceptable?

Yes, looks good.

That's fine
Hi Dylan,
Can you give me an idea about when these changes will happen?
After the change happens, I need to update wiki pages and notify people.
Thanks,
Kathleen
I had more loose-ends than expected yesterday, I'm doing this now.
All done! Let me know if anything is amiss.
