Tim,
Thanks for firing this bug. :-)
Just would like to double confirm that you open a tab to watch youtube before you close your laptop lid and would like to resume it after opening the lid, right?
Component: Audio/Video → Audio/Video: Playback
Flags: needinfo?(bwu) → needinfo?(timdream)
No. I open the YouTube tab *after* computer goes to sleep (if I remember correctly).

I hit the same problem today. Once this problem happens, no video streaming can work, even in other tab or in new tabs. After checking with JW, it seems a libcube problem since if we play video-only file, it can play well. But if we play local file, it can play well. We have not figured out yet what causes libcube stop reporting audio position on audio streaming cases.

Chunmin,
Per discussing today, I have kept the environment. Let's see if we could do something to get some ideas from my laptop tomorrow.
Flags: needinfo?(cchang)
Sure. It would be better if we could have some debugging information/tools when media elements get stuck.
Flags: needinfo?(cchang)
The video will get stuck if cubeb_stream_get_position keeps returning same value. I am not sure if it's the cause. Just guess. Bug 1267511 has similar issue, but there is no enough info for digging into the problem. I think we can start from adding debugging info here.

The previous patch is not for this bug. Correct it.

cubeb_stream_get_position keep returning same value means that AudioUnit is deadlocked[0, 1, 2].

Tim,
Have you seen this bug recently?
Flags: needinfo?(timdream)
I am not sure... I think I do from time to time.
Flags: needinfo?(timdream)
I see this bug on OSX every time there is a Firefox Update... the update downloads but if I don't restart the browser to apply the update then YouTube behaves as described by the OP.

I have heard my wife complaining about the same thing on her Windows laptop.
