Thunderbird contributors are working to build a standalone site for Thunderbird (in bug 1337446 the majority of Thunderbird traffic went there). This bug is a tracker for all the other bugs related to standing up pages or redirecting traffic.

https://www.thunderbird.net now hosts all needed pages, with the exception of release notes that are so old that they're on http://website-archive.mozilla.org (that is, versions older than TB31.0).

I'm not sure if you guys want to do the work of removing Thunderbird code from bedrock or if you want me to do it.

All urls were preserved, so ideally we'll have just one rewrite of mozilla.org/thunderbird/* -> thunderbird.net/*.

:sancus, is there a plan to move this content?

Didn't even realize that was there.

I'll confer with Fallen(the owner of lightning) and see what he wants to do with it.

There is also https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/organizations/ which I very much want to update.

That page is on the new site https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/organizations/ and it was never localized, so you can change the copy on that to whatever you like and we don't have to worry about l10n.

https://github.com/thundernest/thunderbird-website/blob/master/website/organizations/index.html Template is here.

Just checking in here - are we now in a position to remove and redirect all Thunderbird content from Mozorg?
Flags: needinfo?(sancus)
Yes we have been for a while. I've been assuming that I would need to do the removal part myself but haven't had time. If you guys want to do it that would be very helpful.

We can take care of this - I'll add it to our Kanban board. Thanks, Sancus!
It would be nice if thunderbird.net had a custom 404 page. Right now it's a white "not found" page: https://www.thunderbird.net/404

Yeah that's true, will fix.
Have asked the community to help create a nice 404 page via Mozilla Open Design: https://github.com/mozilla/OpenDesign/issues/195

However, there is no reason we can't put a "Sorry we couldn't find that page!" in the meantime.
This is complete. The 404 issue is refiled at https://github.com/thundernest/thunderbird-website/issues/22.
