User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0
Build ID: 20170504105526
Steps to reproduce:
1. With the New Tab page enabled (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-tiles-new-tab) (and it set by default to show top sites).
2. Open a new tab.
3. Click on any of the top sites shown (or just go to a website through the address bar).
4. Note that the back button is disabled.
Actual results:
The back button is disabled, we can’t go back to the New Tab page.
Expected results:
When we navigate away from the New Tab page, the history for that tab should include the New Tab page.
Not including the New Tab page means that if we want to go back to see our top sites, we now have two steps:
1. Close the current tab.
2. Open a new tab.
If the New Tab page was in the tab history, we’d only have to do one thing, go back!
By contrast, you can see how Google Chrome, Safari, and Opera web browsers allow you to navigate back to their top sites tab pages.
