Firefox wont remember it's my default browser

Steps to reproduce:

open browser, mssg "Firefox is currently not your default browser" so I make it my default browser.


Actual results:

After a session I close Firefox and later when I open it again I get the same message and have to check it as my default browser. IN the last few days this has happened about 7 or 8 times. There were four reboots during that time.
(it was not in private browsing if that helps, and it's possible that my OS is buggy, Win7 Ultimate x64)


Expected results:

I expected Firefox to remember it was my default browser.
