Attached image Showing bug !
looks to be related or the same bug as bug 116510, though that bug claims it's
fixed in mozilla and is now only an embedding issue. Either regression, or
perhaps something that didn't get checked into trunk (from 0.9.9 branch?) or was
never really fixed.

Note: you need a gamespy id (free) to access downloads from fileplanet.com.
This probably happens with almost any download.
A gamespy id is not always needed. There are also server public without
registration needed.

Just enter this link and see ! :-)

Just use server public :-)

This is a fileplanet bug all the way. We just follow the spec.

The issue is (see bug 99789 comment 12):

We url-encode the '^' in the url. IE does not. Their server determines the
filename by taking the url and stripping off N chars off the front, where N is
somehow calculated; the calculation is off by 2 when the '^' is URL-encoded.

Here's a reply from GameSpy support service about the problem, which I called
their fault:

>There is no "fault" involved. Our site is optimized for the 2 most common
>browsers on the market today. FilePlanet is a part of a huge network on
>IGN/GameSpy and at this time, the entire network cannot be recoded to
>accommodate other less popular browsers. It is simply too huge of an
>undertaking right now. Possibly in the future this will change. At the moment,
>it is most compatible to IE and Netscape.

Better find out just what they mean by "Netscape".
I would imagine this same bug affects the last Netscape release (Netscape 7 or
7.1 or whatever it is also)
This bug is affecting other sites as well:
for example, movies from IGN.com. Here is another example:
<a
href="http://xfersf01.fileplanet.com/%5E190075156/movies/streamingmovies.ign.com/docroot/cube/article/518/518860/geist_052504_2_wmvlow.wmv?position=front">right
click and select "Save Link As" here</a>.

The actual URL of this link is as follows:

http://xfersf01.fileplanet.com/%5E190075156/movies/streamingmovies.ign.com/docroot/cube/article/518/518860/geist_052504_2_wmvlow.wmv?position=front

The displayed file name in the dialog box should be "geist_052504_2_wmvlow.wmv",
 but instead is "ist_052504_2_wmvlow.wmv".

I am currently using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.7)
Gecko/20040524 Firefox/0.8.0+.v
Noted that fileplanet is part of the IGN/Gamespy network. I did not even notice
the obvious in the URL.

Is this now working ?
Sorry for answering 3 years later. I forgot about this bug.
