From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.9+)
Gecko/20020410
BuildID: 2002041003

The pop-up box in the system tray incorrectly reports the number of new
messages. It seems to report the number of messages that are new since I
started MailNews, not reporting the number of unread or new messages.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create an IMAP account
2.Read your mail
3.Set MailNews to check your mail every 10 minutes
4.When you have new mail, check the pop-up in the system tray. It will report
an incorrect number of new messages

Actual Results: The pop-up tray icon reports the wrong number of messages.
I believe this is a feature, not a bug, since the ones you just leave there are now "unread", and not really "new".

I think the latest Mozilla release may still have the problem.

This is my current Mozilla environment.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030312

Actually my inbox (IMAP) has only 1 new email, the pop-up box in the system tray
shows 2 new messages. This is always reproduceable. When there is N new message,
the system tray shows N+1 new message.
Reporter: please provide a screenshot from a recent build that shows this.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
