(Whiteboard: [2012 Fall Equinox])

From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.9) Gecko/20020311
BuildID:    2002031104

I just installed Mozilla for the first time.
For some reason, some but not all of my IE "Links" folders were
imported into the Mozilla "Personal Toolbar Folder". But that's not
the problem I'm reporting here. The problem I'm reporting is as
follows.
When I dragged the missing folders from Explorer to Bookmarks Manager,
it looked like it worked; however, the folders on the Personal Toolbar
(menu) were yellow "windows-type" folder icons instead of the blue
Mozilla icons. Furthermore, when I select the links within these
folders, instead of going to that Web page, I get stuff like the
following in the Browser window:
   [InternetShortcut]
    URL=http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/yessentials/links/*http://news.
    yahoo.com
    Modified=E0FD6E604324C101D4
    IconIndex=0
    IconFile=C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\Signup\Yahoo\yfavicon.ico
I noticed that the "Location" field in the Bookmark Manager for all of
the dragged-in folders had been set to a URL like:
   file:///C:/blah blah blah
but that all of the others (that Mozilla automatically imported) had a
URL like:
   file:///C|/blah blah blah
I manually changed the colons to bars, and that fixed all of the
problems. So my question (and the bug) is, "when dragging folders
into the Bookmark Manager, why does'nt Mozilla automatically change
the second colon in the URL to a bar if that's what it requires to
work correctly.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Bookmark Manager
2. Open Windows Explorer (not IE) session, and navigate to your
   "Favorites/Links" folder
3. Drag a folder from the Favorites/Links folder in Explorer to the
   "Personal Toolbar Folder" in Bookmark Manager. The folder that
   you drag should contain a valid bookmark and should not already
   exist in the Personal Toolbar Folder.
4. Notice that the folder in bookmark manager looks correct (it is a
   blue Mozilla icon)
5. Close Bookmark Manager
6. Notice that the new folder in the Personal Toolbar is yellow, not
   blue.
7. Select a bookmark from the new folder in the Personal Toolbar.
   Notice that you get the contents of the bookmark, as shown above in
   the description, instead of the web page that it points to
8. Open Bookmark Manager again
9. Notice that the Location field contains "C:" instead of "C|".
10. Open the properties dialog for the new folder and change the "C:"
   to "C|".
11. Close Bookmark Manager
12. Notice that the folder in the Personal Toolbar has changed from
    a yellow Windows icon to a blue Mozilla icon.
13. Select the same bookmark in the new Personal Toolbar folder.
14. Notice that everything works correctly now. That is, the bookmark
    takes you to the web page instead of listing the contents of the
    bookmark.

Actual Results: See description and steps to reproduce.

Expected Results: It should have use "C|" instead of "C:" in the Location that
it created
for the bookmark.
Confirming.

Valintin, thanks for the very complete bug report. In the future, try to keep
it brief, since bugs with long descritions are often ignored.

That are the contents of a internet shortcut file (*.url).

Dragging folder from Explorer to Bookmarks Manager now creates link to that folder instead of creating bookmarks folder with links inside. Not sure, if it's incorrect behavior
