From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:0.9.9+)
Gecko/20020412
BuildID: 2002041203
The scenario: You're reading a PDF document and you come across a term that
you're not familiar with, and you want to look it up on a dictionary or
search-engine site. You type a keyword in the location bar and then copy the
word to the location bar, only to find out that the keyword has been erased.
Another scenario is that you're at one of these sites and you want to look for
something referenced, so instead of wasting time getting back to where you can
enter another term, you want to replace part of the search string. You pasted
the new selection, but all that's there is the new word(s).
I'm indicating the severity as Minor since you can still use the keyboard or
menus, but it's still rather annoying.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter something in the location bar.
2. Copy some text from elsewhere (on the document you're looking at, from a word
processor, etc)
3. Highlight a portion of the text in the location bar.
4. Paste the copied text over the selection.
Actual Results: All that's in the location bar is the pasted text.
Expected Results: The text of the location bar should be the same as was
originally entered, only with the selected text replaced.
This probably happens with all brands of mice, but I am unable to check. My
mouse is a Microsoft IntelliMouse and my mouse driver is Microsoft IntelliPoint
4.01.
