1373670 - Contact list having a parenthesis in the name disables the send button

Steps to reproduce:

I couldn't send an email to a distribution group (List) because the Send button was disabled. After adding/deleting/changing the distribution group and trying to figure out what's going on, I have found that having parenthesis in the name causes the Send button to be disabled. This was working prior to version 52.2.0 upgrade.


Actual results:

Send button is disabled.


Expected results:

Send button should not be disabled.

This can be reproduced on Windows 7 (64) and 10 (64). I have not tested this on any other OS.

Regression of bug 1362130? Funny, because in bug 1362130 we tried to fix the case of special characters in the name.

I can see it. It only happens if you type (or autocomplete) the name manually.
If you drag/copy it from the Contacts sidebar (F9) the name gets quoted and the Send button works.
The joy of different ML encoding.

Users won't appreciate what is causing this hidden issue, especially if their address books originated from Google account groups containing parenthesis. It took a fair amount of time to realize what was causing the issue - I was in the middle of attempting a mail merge at the time wanting to get a message out to 140 contacts - I ended up wasting some of Alexander Bergman's time because he couldn't understand what I was talking about when I said the Send button was not active ! It wasted  a fair amount of both of our time because we were talking at cross purposes because of the bug. This problem will cause other users frustration if they have an address book with parenthesis and they don't make use of the address book sidebar.
