Sorry for the premature post - on builds as of 2002-040403 through at least 2002-04-12-06, launching the Address Book hangs the app, memory bloats up to 46k+ and the AB never opens. Must force quit via task manager (win). WinXP Home Edition.

This works on my W2K machine using 2002041111, so it might be specific to WinXP.
WFM, 2002041409, winXP pro. How large is the address book?
Is this a duplicate of bug 136496 ?
Same thing happens to me, with 2002041711/RC1/Win98SE. I open the address book, and Mozilla hangs until I kill the address book. The address book has less than 15 entries.
I continue to see this in 2002-04-26-06. Can't open the AB at all, must force quit app. Probably a dupe of bug 136496. Commented there as well.
This bug seems to be fixed in 2002051006/RC2.
This happens (to me) with 98SE too--Downloaded new copy 12/15, 20021130, and it still happens. It hangs the entire app--immediately if you hit the icon at the bottom, or when you select open address book from the window menu.
Reporter: Are you still seeing this bug? Dan Koretz: What you see is likely the later XUL.mfl corruption. For an immediate workaround: Delete that file while mozilla is not running.
My father told me about a similar sounding problem (Clean installation of german localization of Mozilla 1.2.1 on a new Win2k box). I am going to have a look and will test whether deleting XUL.mfl helps.
Deleting XUL.mfl helped. But I do not really know whether the bug my father saw was the same bug as originally described here. I can attach the corrupted XUL.mfl if necessary.
