Details
If you go to any site that has a file available for download in .dmg format, or
is gzipped, Mozilla will try to render that file inline instead of offering to
save it to disk.
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Go to VersionTracker.com @ address given above (or any other site that has a
file in those formats)
2) Single-click the download link.
Mozilla will now start spitting garbage text at you, instead of producing a
save file dialog box.
Expected Action:
Any time the user clicks on a link which ends with .dmg or .gz, Mozilla should
try to download the file, not render it.

OS: Mac System 9.x → MacOS X
please provide a specific link instead of a generic site, I can't find
'download' on the page you specified.
in most cases, the bug would belong to evangelism, because the problem is that
servers default to sending unknown types (.dmg) as text/plain.

if you don't think the report is invalid, please check to see if it has already
been reported (it might be a duplicate instead). otherwise, make sure that there
are steps (a valid test case) that clearly display the issue as an unexpected
defect.
