If click on VGA or HD here https://webrtc.github.io/samples/src/content/getusermedia/resolution/
the actual resolution on the picture is 1280x720.

The same problem can also be observed when entering a room on appear.in as the video is 16:9 rather then the requested 4:3 aspect ratio.

Probably fall out from the 57 merge. Might be related to the fact that we no longer use our own AVFoundation implementation, but the WebRTC.org implementation.
