Looking at the new beta redesign, I found it very nice and classy which provide some interesting improvement in term of readability. However, I was uncomfortable looking at it. After some investigation I think this design could be slightly improve if it were closer tight to a visual grid. In the following screenshot I suggest to: 1. Rebalance the header to make it visually more stable 2. Rebalance the footer to make it visually more stable and more compact. I also suggest to change some contrast to provide a clearer hierarchy of action and to balance this design even more: 1. In the upper right corner, the "Tools" and "Profile" menu would benefit from being with a light background when not active/focus (those will provide a more balanced and peaceful header) 2. Invert the contrast of "call to action" button (edit, subscribe to NL) to make them more prominently actionable. See the various screenshot for a visual difference of what could be done.

Hi Jeremie, We are working with a professional graphics design company on this so I am going to defer to their judgement for now. This is only the first phase of the changes and I think this conversation will be a much better use of our time in the fall after we have fully implemented their vision and can start examining the metrics :)
