Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/59.0.3071.104 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Go to the menu bar (View->Toolbars->Quick Filter Bar)

Actual results:

No key command is shown. (and periodically, I think the quick filter bar disappears on its own, though I'm not sure under what conditions)

Expected results:

A shortcut should be shown for this useful feature
On Linux and Windows you can open the QFB with CTRL+SHIFT+K. On Mac it should be COMMAND+SHIFT+K.

For the disappearing we need a STR (steps to reproduce).
Summary: Quick Filter Bar has no (visible?) key command on Mac to reenable (and seems to periodically disappear on its own) → Quick Filter Bar has no (visible?) key command on Mac to reenable (periodically disappears)
Bret, do you have a set of steps that reliable reproduces the disappearance? Escape key?

Sorry, I am not sure. I am aware the escape key (deliberately) lets you close the quick filter--which is reasonable.

But my main original request is about the fact that the Mac usually shows key command sequences in the menu bar but doesn't in the case of the Quick Filter (I do see the sequence is within the quick filter itself).

I think the problem is problem that I end up using the escaping key, e.g., to get out of message searches, and end up disabling the Quick Filter.

It would be extremely handy to have some way of disabling the behavior of the escape key hiding the Quick Filter.
I thinkn this is essentially bug 928365
