We are improving the way we handle searches from the location bar, and as part of this we are removing rarely used customization to make code complexity manageable. In this bug, we'll remove the rarely used "browser.urlbar.restrict.*" preferences.

I can see "browser.urlbar.restrict.*" preferences in nightly 56.0a1 (2017-06-28) (64-bit) I can verify that these preferences are removed in latest nightly 56.0a1 Build ID 20170707100138 User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0
