Details
every time I create a new tab, I type a URL into the location bar. it seems
logical to focus it when a new tab is created (in the foreground).

Um... that's exactly the behavior I see (linux trunk build 2002-04-15-21). I
open a new tab, the location bar is focused. My homepage is set to about:blank
What is your homepage set to? What build are you using?

This worksforme in 2002-04-16 trunk cvs on linux. #mozillazine sez it wfm on
Windows (Kovu on winXP 1.0branch 2002041617, xero52 win2k on 0.9.9). It should
be fixed since 2001-10-08 in bug 102598. Reporter, what is your build id (in
mozilla's window title bar)? Consider using
<http://www.mozilla.org/quality/help/bugzilla-helper.html> to report bugs. Thanks
I'm using 2002041306 on Windows ME. I have been having problems with Windows
lately, but I'm pretty sure the focus thing isn't new.
I did use bugzilla helper but it's so tedious when reporting more than a few
bugs in a row so I just left it blank and erased it here. sorry. :)

"What is your homepage set to?" Also, what is your "when navigator starts up"
pref set to?
my homepage is set to some site, but when navigator starts up it's set to
display a blank page. the location bar is empty when i create the tab.
Reporter, are you still experiencing this issue? I use Mozilla nightly trunk
builds for Win98 & Linux, and as Boris said already I already observe the
behavior that you are requesting. If this is still a problem for you, it seems
to me it should be a regular bug and not an RFE because Bug 102598 has been
fixed for awhile.
yup, still happens on 2002061808. so what should I do? re-file it?

No, but how do you open new tabs exactly?

There are a couple of ways. Ctrl+T and "File -> New -> Navigator Tab" will
correctly focus the url bar. "Right-click -> New Tab" on the tab bar and
clicking on the "new tab" button won't focus the url bar. There are two bugs on
this (one for each way).

Jag, I find bugs about the "Open new tab" button not giving focus to the
location bar, (two identical ones): Bug 151876 and Bug 151807 (both of which
have comments from you). I do not find one for the case the reporter is talking
about (i.e., right click on tab area, choose "New Tab"). Do you know of one?
If not, seems like this should be confirmed, and its severity set to
normal/minor/whatever; doesn't seem like an RFE if the other case isn't.

It looks like when this bug was filed it was a valid RFE, which was fixed.
Marking WFM and using bug 151807 for the new issues.

mass-verifying WorksForMe bugs.
reopen only if this bug is still a problem with a *recent trunk build*.
