User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 Build ID: 20170614102148 Steps to reproduce: After Upgrate to Thunderbird 52.2.1 on 1.mga5 X86_64 some fwd emails are empty Actual results: fwd emails from some sender addresses are empty. Only the label from the original mail appears. Body of the original mail is lost For other sender all is OK See attached file with two sender not possible to fwd and one FWD OK Expected results: all Fwd mails should contain the body of the original text as usually. Notice : i do not speak about attached files

Please attach at least one e-mail that can't be forwarded correctly. Drag the e-mail to the desktop or some other folder or save as .eml file and then attach the file here. We need to experiment with the data and in the PDF you submitted it's all truncated since you put ETC ETC.

(In reply to nk0885@yahoo.fr from comment #0) > fwd emails from some sender I see this by "X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook 14.0" > addresses are empty. I didn't notice this. > Only the label from the > original mail appears. Body of the original mail is lost For me the error occurs only if: Menu: View -> Message Body As -> Simple HTML is active. With "Original HTML" and "Plain Text" everything works OK. Can you confirm this?

This mail works fine. The only difference is the <HTML> tag in the HTML part.

So here we have more examples of those messages with incorrect MIME structure: related alternative plain html image where it should be alternative plain related html image We usually handle those messages, but as Alfred pointed out, the html part is missing the <html> tag in the HTML part in example 2. Decoding the little HTML body supplied in example 1, I see: <html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" ... I think it would be best to have both example in full to test them.

Ok, in fact, it's not new See: Bug 394322, Bug 496723 and Bug 313401 Attachment 517800 [details] shows the bug.

So to where would you like to dupe? If I see it correctly, <html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" ... (example 1) is the case of bug 313401 and example 2 is the case of bug 394322.

(In reply to nk0885@yahoo.fr from comment #9) > Do you need an .eml from a a Mail with Fwd OK ? No, thanks. Both messages forward fine as long as the full HTML is viewed and not the simple HTML.

Notice that now with Mageia 6 and Thunderbird 52.2.1 it is the same problem. I also found out that there is another problem with HTML : My settings are "with HTML" Example : in some mails if I write some words in red, the other in black, when i read the mail sent, all characters are in black

Yes, that's what this bug is about: Message viewed as original HTML: Forward OK; message viewed as simple HTML: Forward doesn't work. The bug is closed since it's a duplicate of bug 394322.

Personal comment : If i here had to exercise one of my jobs witch is External Quality Auditor (also done for Data Computing companies.....), I would not be OK for closing this BUG because the questions are : -What is the need and the purpose of two HTML settings ? -Which of both is initialized once the first installation of Thunderbird and why ? But I'm not! what is certainly is a chance !

Sorry, I don't know the purpose of "simple HTML". I never use it and it is not the default. Thunderbird is run mostly by unpaid volunteers as an open source project and we don't have quality auditing. Also, the bug is closed as a *duplicate* of bug 394322 which reports exactly the same thing. We don't need two bugs on file for the same issue.

There are various test cases here. In some of the messages attached here, there is no <html> tag in the html part of the message. In the last message, "Re: A l'attention de Monsieur Neff Copie Mme Faessel.eml" the <html> tag has an attribute, so that's bug 394322. Let me see whether I can fix the missing <html> tag issue in bug 394322 as well.
Summary: Some email messages are forwarded without origin body Text when Simple HTML is viewed. → Email messages with no HTML tag in the HTML part are forwarded without origin body Text when Simple HTML is viewed
